Bellevue Hill: A Vertical Descent into Greenery

Commanding a tiered vantage point over the vibrant textures of Bellevue Hill and the shimmering glimpses of Rose Bay, this residence is a refined study in vertical landscape design. Following an extensive internal renovation that defined a new standard of contemporary elegance for the home, the garden was reimagined to ensure the exterior lived up to the new interiors.

The design narrative is one of transition. On the upper terraces, we curated a palette of sun-drenched, architectural plantings that frame the iconic views without competing with them. As we move down through the home’s multiple levels, the planting softens, adapting to the shifting light and preparing the visitor for the estate’s true hidden gem: the lower garden.

Once a forgotten space, the rear garden has been given a new identity. We replaced an awkward transition with a pair of symmetrical, curving stairwells that create a stately sense of arrival onto an expansive, leveled lawn. This leads to a secluded sandstone firepit area tucked into the far corner of the site. Here, the atmosphere shifts—sheltered by a mature canopy, this space offers an intimate, "under-canopy" feeling that is rich, shaded, and deeply immersive.
